This past month, Pastor Stephen Um went to preach at the Acts 29 Conference in Dallas. Alongside him preaching were Matt Chandler, Doug Logan, Scotty Smith, and Steve Timmis. The conference theme came from 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1.

It is clear from both 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1 that there is nothing extraordinary about leaders among God’s people. The requirements for elders (a.k.a bishops or pastors) is that they live exemplary lives. They lead by showing others what it means to be a disciple in the everyday. The one distinguishing mark of a pastor is his ability to teach, i.e. explain how the gospel shapes and defines our lives as the people of God. Therefore, Healthy Leaders are first and foremost examples to the flock of what it means to be a sheep!

Pastor Um preached on “The Secure Leader”. Check out the sermon here and the rest of the conference sessions here.
